British Actor and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson will co-host a special event for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign on 20 September 2014, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The event aims to kick-start one of the largest solidarity movements of the 21st century for the achievement of gender equality calling upon one half of humanity in support of the other half for the benefit of all.
Over the next 12 months the HeForShe campaign intends to mobilize one billion men and boys as advocates and agents of change in ending the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally. The premise is that inequality is a human rights issue, the resolution of which will benefit everyone – socially, politically and economically.
The special event will bring together gender experts, government officials, senior United Nations officials, civil society organizations and HeForShe celebrity champions and role models to discuss the central role of men and boys in the achievement of gender equality, and to raise awareness that the support of women’s rights is a moral, social and economic imperative for humanity.
Another gallery update today, adding an additional 1382 photoshoot images of Emma Watson from 2001 – 2009.
I have, at long last, started working on the Photoshoots & Portraits section of the gallery! As you can expect it is a difficult process as there are so many Emma photoshoots circulating online, and I am trying to get every image in high-quality, if possible, and try to work out which images goes with which set and what year it is from. So, to start I have added 468 images from Emma’s shoots from 2010 – 2014, with more on the way shortly. If you spot a session that is missing or know of a high-quality image, let me know!
As you would expect, Emma Watson has appeared on Vanity Fair’s International Best-Dressed List 2014, and on their site they have a little excerpt where she discusses her fashion inspiration:
Name: Emma Watson
Occupation: Actress
Residence: London and New York
Favorite item of clothing: Jackets. Whether it’s a classic trench, a BLK DNM leather jacket, a great oversize J Brand denim jacket or a beautiful Miu Miu opera coat, I love that they always look and feel better the more you wear them.
Favorite place to shop: I love shops with a unique point of view. In London, I buy my lingerie from Tallulah. I do my vintage shopping in Notting Hill. English Topshop is hard to beat. In Paris, I will always go to Isabel Marant. In New York, there is a great shop called Otte, and another called Bird. In California, there is this great boutique called Anaïse where I stock up on beautiful handcrafted hair accessories. Net-a-Porter or Shopbop are great for online.
Favorite shoes: Paul Andrew made me the most beautiful shoes for my graduation. I won’t wear shoes I can’t walk in and his were so comfortable. Recently, I’ve been falling for Ancient Greek. But day to day, my trusty Alexander Wang Kori ankle boots or Tabitha Simmons suede Early booties get me through most daytime occasions. For nighttime, I almost always wear my Prada pointed-toe suede pumps. I’ve had my pair five years now, and they are still perfect and go with everything.
Favorite accessory: My go-to daily little jewels. Every day I wear a tiny, drop diamond necklace on a sweet gold chain from Catbird, a very special Jennifer Meyer gold bar necklace that was a birthday present, and my tiny rings from Hirotaka, Boucheron, and one vintage one from my mother.
Scent: Diptyque’s Feu de Bois candle.
Watch: Cartier Tank Solo in gold.
Style icons: Lauren Bacall, Sofia Coppola, Cate Blanchett, Françoise Hardy.
