Director Alejandro Amenábar’s latest work, “Regression,” starring Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson, will have its world premiere as the opener of the 2015 San Sebastian Festival.

“Regression” follows Detective Bruce Kenner in 1990’s Minnesota as he investigates the case of Angela, who accuses her father, John, of sexual abuse. When John’s memory of the crime is fuzzy and unclear, psychologist Dr. Raines is brought to the case to find out the truth. As the detective explores further and further, he uncovers more mysteries that cause Angela to fear for her and Kenner’s lives.

The film also stars David Thewlis and David Dencik. It will have its world premiere on September 18 in the Kursaal Auditorium. “Regression” will open in Spain on October 2, followed by Germany, the UK, France, Italy China and Korea later this fall. The 2015 San Sebastian Festival will run from September 18-26.
