Kaetlyn's Painted-Look tutorial

Many people ask how I make the layouts featuring "paint effects" - here's a simple method. Designed for Photoshop.

I'll use an image that will make all the effects clear. First, I'm going to "Smart Blur" the image, to get rid of imperfections - very handy to get rid of pimples, actually. Important parts are highlighted.

A box should appear. Just keep it basic and don't modify anything. Press "OK". Instantly, the picture should have a "glassy" effect, or in other words, everything is smooth.

Now, this is a good effect - but, I want to fade it out, so it's not so smooth. First you press, "SHFT", "CTR", "F" (together, remember). A box will come up stating, "Fade". Place a number bewtween 1-100 - that's the percentage you want to fade. I'm going 57%.

It's nice and smooth, but things are still visible. Now, the problem is it's all "stuck together" or "blurred" too much, so go up to "Filter" and then "Sharpen" and then "Sharpen More". The image should instantly sharpen.

The image is now smooth and sharpened. But what's this? It's too sharpened! We're going to fade again! Remember, "SHFT" + "CTRL" + "F". Now it's perfect! Add some more effects - desaturate, add brushed, and overlay! Ta da!
