First, I want to change Emma's hair colour. Maybe a dark colour, possibly with streaks. I will first select the area around Emma's hair, with the pen tool.
Right click and press "Make Selection". Make sure the feature radias is set to "1". A sparklie, ant-line-ish border should appear. Create a new layer.
Select a colour from the colour section of the tool area (the two boxes at the end). Double click on a box and choose a colour.
Once you've chosen, press "Enter". Then, click the paintbucket tool and click in the area between the antline. The selected section should fill with the colour you chose.
Go to the "effect" section of the layer toolbar. It should say "Normal" at the moment. Scroll down until you find the colour you want. Notice that the hair colour is now darker on mine.
Now, let's add some highlights. Create another layer and choose another colour, something complimentry. Use a brush with feathered edges and apply them on various sections of the hair.
Use the "Effects" scroll on the layer toolbar until you find the position you want. Erase any excess. If you want to change anything else, go up and repeat the process. If not, press, "CTRL" + "SHFT" + "E" to merge layers. You're finished! Done colouring? View my finished product?
