Emma Watson has been named Best Movie Actress at the first ever UK Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The 17-year-old star was honoured for her role as Hermione Granger in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ in a ceremony at London’s ExCel arena on Saturday (20.10.07).
Emma fought off stiff competition from Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightley and Dakota Fanning to win the accolade.
The young actress wore a stunning gold-sequinned top and Diesel jeans as she collected her statuette, after more than three million young viewers of the children’s TV channel Nickelodeon cast their votes online.
She said: “This is so cool. I’m so thrilled.”
Johnny Depp was named Best Movie Actor for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’.
However, ‘Pirates…’ was beaten to the title of Best Movie by ‘The Simpsons Movie’, while ‘The Simpsons’ TV show was named Best Cartoon.

Nickelodeon made a splash on the other side of the Atlantic on Saturday, debuting the U.K. edition of its Kids’ Choice Awards in London.
Notably absent were any big-name celebrities being doused in Nick’s traditional green slime. That, of course, was good news for Emma Watson, who also was named Nickelodeon’s Best Movie Actress.
“This is so cool. I’m so thrilled,” the 17-year-old Harry Potter star said.
Watson – who was wearing a gold-sequined top and Diesel jeans – beat out Cameron Diaz, Dakota Fanning and Keira Knightley for the award.
For the past few months, kids have been voting online for their top choices in 16 different categories, including Best Movie Actor (Johnny Depp), Best Sports Person (David Beckham), Best Female Singer (Avril Lavigne) and Best Movie (The Simpsons Movie).
Although they were unable to attend, High School Musical stars Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale won Best TV Actor and Actress. The Greenie Award – created to encourage kids to recycle – was accepted by Nancy Drew’s Emma Roberts, who pledged to become more environmentally conscious.
Jamie Lynn Spears was a no-show, but she did send a video message saying, “I’m so sad I’m missing out on all the fun you guys are having there.”

British actress Emma Watson found filming her new role as a ballerina much harder than working on the Harry Potter movies. The 17-year-old, who plays Hermione Granger, is also starring in new British TV series Ballet Shoes and had to take ballet lessons to prepare for the role. She says, “I loved shooting Ballet Shoes, but it’s much harder doing ballet than stunts on Harry Potter as I don’t do most of those myself. “Other people do it for me so I guess I get away with much more. Playing a ballerina is so different, it’s lots of hard work and I’m not really that good.”

HARRY Potter’s pal Hermione Granger is to star in a BBC adaptation of the classic children’s tale Ballet Shoes.
Emma Watson, 17, will play an orphan in the feature-length film of Noel Streatfield’s 1936 book.
The 90-minute drama, also featuring comedian Victoria Wood and Hustle star Marc Warren, will be the teen actress’s first TV role.
It will also see the young star reunited with Potter co-star Richard Griffiths - Harry’s evil Uncle ernon.
Filming on the lavish adaptation will start this month and it is expected to be the centrepiece of the Beeb’s Christmas line-up.
Ballet Shoes follows the tale of three orphaned sisters who are adopted by an eccentric explorer and raised by his niece.
A TV source said: “Emma was practically born for this role.”

Emma Watson has admitted that her father still gives her pocket money, despite being worth an estimated 10 million pounds.
The 17-year-old Harry Potter actress has been banned from touching her earnings by her parents until she is 21, and revealed that it is down to her dad to manage her finances.
She said: “He really helps me because he doesn’t want me to live this completely different, crazy life. I’m not spoilt.
“He still gives me a monthly allowance - he insists! And to be honest I appreciate that, it makes me feel more normal.”
