ACTORS Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will return as teen wizards Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in the final Harry Potter films, Warner Bros announced yesterday.
The young stars will reprise their roles in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — the last two films in the franchise based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling novels, studio production president Jeff Robinov said.
“It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified,” Mr Robinov said.
Radcliffe, who recently made news for his role in the London production of Equus, said playing Potter had been “an immense privilege”.
The fifth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is scheduled for release in the US on July 13.

Harry Potter actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint WILL join Daniel Radcliffe in the final two films, say producers.
Daniel, Rupert, and Emma made their screen debuts as the young Harry, Ron and Hermione in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001.
Warner Brothers boss Jeff Robinov said it would be “inconceivable” to get anybody else to play the roles.
Daniel’s role was confirmed earlier this month, but there had been rumours that Emma would not return.
The trio have already appeared in four movies together, and will star in the fifth Potter film, The Order of the Phoenix, in July.
Now fans can relax in the knowledge that they will also return for The Half-Blood Prince, scheduled for release in November 2008, and The Deathly Hallows.
Mr Robinov said: “Through the years we have watched them grow into extraordinary young adults, as well as remarkable actors.
“It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified, so we are thrilled and proud that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their characters in the final two films.”

Warner Brothers Bosses Confirm Watson Won’t Quit
Actress Emma Watson has ended speculation about her future as Harry Potter’s pal Hermione Granger by confirming to movie executives she’ll be by the boy wizard’s side for all seven films. Fans were left fretting last week when Watson’s Harry Potter co-star Rupert Grint suggested, in a British newspaper article, that his pal might not play a part in all seven planned films. But now Warner Brothers bosses have confirmed the actress has no plans to quit the film franchise. In a statement released yesterday, Warners production president Jeff Robinov said, “We are thrilled and proud that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their characters in the final two films. The franchise’s fifth movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released this summer (JUL07) - just as author J.K. ROWLING’s seventh and final Potter book, HARRY POTTER + THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, hits stores. The sixth Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is scheduled to hit cinemas next summer (08).

Actress Emma Watson is likely to return as Hermione in the last two Harry Potter movies despite reports she may quit, producers Warner Bros have said.
“We’re extremely confident that Emma will be back for films six and seven,” a spokesperson for the Hollywood studio told CBBC’s Newsround.
The statement comes amid speculation that the 16-year-old told the company she did not want to continue.
Daniel Radcliffe has already agreed to take the lead role in both productions.
There have been four films based on JK Rowling’s books so far, with the fifth - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - due for release in July.
Filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled to begin this year, with a release date at some point in 2008.
A release date in 2010 has been mooted for the seventh and final movie, The Deathly Hallows - the year Watson will turn 20.

Emma Watson has decided not to sign up for the final two Harry Potter movies, according to a report in the News of the World today.
The actress, who plays Hermione Granger in the films, has told producers that she wants to try other roles and turned down a new £2 million-per-movie offer.
Watson’s co-star Rupert Grint, better known as Ron Weasley, admitted that he and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) no longer speak to the 16-year-old.
“Emma doesn’t want to do it any more,” Rupert explained. “She’s tired of being known as ‘that girl from Harry Potter’. Daniel and I are distant from her now. We don’t text or talk to her when we are not filming.”
The newspaper claims that it has received confirmation from Warner Brothers that Emma has not signed up for the final films.

Watson Turns Down Contract for Final Potter Films
HARRY POTTER star EMMA WATSON has reportedly refused to sign a new contract to star in the last two movies in the J.K. ROWLING fantasy series - despite being offered GBP2 million ($3.9 million) to continue her role as HERMIONE GRANGER. The 16-year-old - who was confronted by a crazed fan at her British school earlier this week (begs12MAR07) - has allegedly tired of her role as Harry Potter’s best friend and wants to try new projects. But her decision has thrown the final two films, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, into disarray, with filming due to start later this year (07). RUPERT GRINT, who plays RON WEASLEY in the fantasy franchise, tells British newspaper the News Of The World, “Emma doesn’t want to do it any more. She’s tired of being known as ‘that girl from Harry Potter’. “DANIEL (RADCLIFFE) and I are distant from her now. We don’t text or talk to her when we are not filming.” Movie giants Warner Brothers today (18MAR07) confirmed Watson has not signed on for any more Harry Potter movies.
